About Us
Lignum Design was founded in February 2011 by Klaus Stelzig.
Klaus Stelzig
Owner / Project Coordinator
Klaus is the founder of Lignum Design Ltd. Klaus also works as a designer on residential Timberframe buildings and commercial Mass Timber structures. He is passionate about providing suitable details which are not only easy to install but also cost efficient.
Klaus has 29 years of experience in the timber industry. At the age of 16, Klaus started his apprenticeship as a timberframer, worked several years on site and CNC operator. After several years working on site and in the shop, he expanded his knowledge in civil engineering and has since then stayed in the timber industry. In 2006, Klaus came to Canada to learn more about the traditional Timberframe building design. After working several years for a Timberframe company he decided to step up and founded Lignum Design.
When he is not at work he enjoys the outdoors with the family, especially camping, fishing, hiking and mountain biking. His favorite spot is New Denver on Slocan Lake.
